Research Assistant (biobank) (ND0004)

Responsibilities

A Research Assistant position is available within the Hong Kong Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases at the Hong Kong Science Park. The appointee will join a team dedicated to generate a comprehensive human tissue-based biobank, ensuring that all procedures adhere to internationally accepted standards.

Duties

  • Quality control of human tissues
  • Maintain a quality-assured biobank
  • Organize and cryopreserve processed samples in liquid nitrogen tanks
  • Facility maintenance including general upkeep, i.e. ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, and excellent record keeping
  • Running phenotyping assays, including but not limited to: immunocytochemistry, imaging, western blot, RT-qPCR
  • Involved in project specific tasks

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Neurobiology or related field
  • Experience with biobank and cell culture preferred
  • Past research experience in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, or neuroscience at undergraduate level or beyond is preferred
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, team-oriented
  • Strong organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills
  • Work over the weekend on rotation when needed

Salary and Benefits

A highly competitive salary will be commensurate with qualification and experience in addition to medical and dental benefits as well as annual leave. The appointment will be offered a one-year contract, renewable subject to mutual agreement and performance.
