InnoHK Hong Kong Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (InnoHK HKCeND) showcased its latest advancements in developing diagnostics and therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s disease, at the Asia Summit on Global Health 2026 (ASGH 2026). The Summit, themed “Fuelling Healthcare Breakthroughs”, was held on 11 and 12 May 2026 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
At the InnoHealth Showcase area, the Center presented innovations spanning early detection, precision disease management, and novel therapeutic development, including
- Development of the world’s first blood-based multi-protein diagnostic tests for early detection and personalized management of Alzheimer’s disease
- Identification of novel drug targets for developing treatments for Alzheimer’s disease
- Development of an innovative genome-editing strategy for familial Alzheimer’s disease therapy
Notably, the Center shared that its blood testing technologies for early detection and personalized management of Alzheimer’s disease have been licensed to a spin-off company of the Center and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and developed into practical applications for clinical services and community programs, benefiting the community.

Jointly organized by the HKSAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the Summit fosters the exchange of healthcare innovations and international collaboration to address evolving healthcare challenges and opportunities. ASGH 2026 spotlighted global healthcare trends, with a focus on frontier technologies, AI breakthroughs, pandemic preparedness, silver health, and innovation in Chinese medicine, in alignment with the direction of National 15th Five-Year Plan.
