Research Assistant (biobank) (ND0004)
Responsibilities
A Research Assistant position is available within the Hong Kong Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases at the Hong Kong Science Park. The appointee will join a team dedicated to generate a comprehensive human tissue-based biobank, ensuring that all procedures adhere to internationally accepted standards.
Duties
Quality control of human tissues
Maintain a quality-assured biobank
Organize and cryopreserve processed samples in liquid nitrogen tanks
Facility maintenance including general upkeep, i.e. ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, and excellent record keeping
Running phenotyping assays, including but not limited to: immunocytochemistry, imaging, western blot, RT-qPCR
Involved in project specific tasks
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Biology/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Neurobiology or related field
Experience with biobank and cell culture preferred
Past research experience in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, or neuroscience at undergraduate level or beyond is preferred
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, team-oriented
Strong organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills
Work over the weekend on rotation when needed

Assistant Manager/ Officer (Laboratory Management) (ND0069)
Duties
Assist in an established laboratory and provision of related facilities, operation and maintenance of the laboratory, procurement of laboratory equipment and regents; manage inventory of laboratory equipment and items; maintain and operate all shared laboratory facilities; establish and maintain laboratory standard operating procedures; and assist in the R&D projects where required.
Requirements
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in biological or biomedical sciences, at least 3-4 years’ relevant experience; knowledge in laboratory setting and practice will be an asset. A team player with a story sense of responsibility, independent, good interpersonal and problem-solving skills; knowledge in general laboratory and research equipment management and competent in MS Office is preferable. On-the-job training will be provided.

The appointee will participate in a molecular neuroscience-related and/or genetic-based research programs.
Requirements
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or a related field. Prior experience in clinical or hospital settings is preferred. Experience and knowledge in research project administration, biological sample processing, patient recruitment or translational science is an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential. Self-motivation and detail-oriented with an ability to work independently is essential.

Duties
We are seeking highly motivated and organized applicants to join our team. The Scientific Officer positions will facilitate the development and execution of novel scientific strategies at our state-of-the-art laboratory. The successful applications will assist in project management of research programs, write project proposals and reports, manage stakeholder relations and handle external communications, etc.
Requirements
For the Scientific Officer position, the ideal candidate has a Ph.D. degree or doctorate degree in life sciences or a related field, with a minimum of 5 -8 years of hands-on experience working in a research setting. Relevant experience in standard molecular biology and neuroscience-related techniques is a must. Technical writing experience is required. This position is ideal for an individual who can work independently in a thriving complex environment with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Post-doctoral Fellows / Research Associates (ND0002)
Duties
Successful candidates will study the roles and the effect of genetic risk factors in neurodegenerative diseases through a systems approach, involving epigenetic, transcriptomic, and proteomics analysis. They will also be required to process and analyze human tissues, including frozen brain tissues and paraffin blocks. The positions provide exchange opportunities and the successful candidates will work closely with renowned laboratories at international institutions.
Requirements
Applicants should have a PhD degree in life science; background in neuroscience, neuroanatomy or a related field; and research experience in human tissues, histology and immunohistology. Knowledge of neuro-pathology, genomic DNA, RNA, and biochemistry techniques is preferred. The appointee should possess outstanding communication skills and strong passion and commitment to science, and enjoy working in a multidisciplinary and diverse team.
