Dr. Amanda Heslegrave is the Principal Research Fellow at the UK Dementia Research Institute at University College London (UCL), where she co-leads the Fluid Biomarker Laboratory and the Biomarker Factory. She earned her Bachelor of Science from Birkbeck, University of London in 2000, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy from UCL in 2005. Transitioning to the field of neurodegenerative disease research in 2012, Dr. Heslegrave has since worked closely with Prof. Henrik Zetterberg at UCL. Her research focuses on fluid biomarkers in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and blood, utilizing advanced immunoassay and proteomic methods to study neurodegenerative diseases.
At the forefront of innovation, Dr. Heslegrave and her lab are dedicated to developing new fluid biomarker tests, with the main goal of pioneering simple blood tests for various neurodegenerative conditions.
