Dr. John Wong has been working in the medical and healthcare industries since earning his Ph.D. in 2013. He brings broad experience across both corporate and public-sector environments, from a public-sector statutory body and startups to a NASDAQ-listed company. Throughout his career, Dr. Wong has collaborated with clinical teams to develop and commercialize medical and healthcare products, obtaining regulatory clearances and approvals from major entities such as the China NMPA, U.S. FDA, and European CE mark. In 2019, he led a rapid-response team to launch healthcare products during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Wong‘s business acumen, scientific expertise, and strong academic collaborations underpin his work translating research into real world impact. He also advises academia as an External Advisor to the School of Nursing at Tung Wah College. He currently serves as Assistant Director of Business Development at the Hong Kong Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases, where he drives technology translation, funding, and deployment of research into community impact.
Trained as a chemist, Dr. Wong holds a B.Sc. and M.Phil. from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign as a Croucher Scholar. His doctoral research focused on drug discovery for neurodegenerative diseases, including myotonic dystrophy and Huntington’s disease.
