Duties
The appointee will be responsible for exercising judgment and decision making in managing the R&D operations and the overall strategic direction of R&D within the Center. He/She should be the leader on all matters related to research management, project administration, IP management, business development, deal evaluation and negotiation for commercialization as well as acquiring industry sponsorship for research work. He/She will also represent the Center in doing publicity locally and globally. Required to station and work at the Hong Kong Science Park, with frequent business travels to HKUST Clear Water Bay Campus and other collaborators of the Center.
Requirements
Applicants must possess a PhD degree in life science, biological science or related field. Fifteen or more years of directly relevant experience is required, preferably in a research-based organization. Relevant experience includes familiarity with common techniques of molecular biology and neuroscience as well as laboratory skills and knowledge related to stem cells. He/She should be able to write clearly, quickly, and accurately for proposal development, grant writing and other forms of acquiring funding. He/She should have good knowledge of intellectual property issues, exceptional skills in business negotiations and related legal documentation; an extensive network with academic and commercial sectors in neuroscience and excellent communication skills to promote the Center; excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to interact with all levels of employees and develop relationships with co-workers in the research hub.
Salary and Benefits
Salary will be commensurate with qualification and experience. Medical and dental benefits as well as annual leave will be provided. Appointment will be offered on a contract basis, renewable subject to mutual agreement and performance.
