Nancy Ip
Center Director

Prof. Nancy Ip is a world-renowned neuroscientist and internationally recognized for her pioneering research in molecular neuroscience. Her research interests focus on understanding the causes of and developing novel drugs for neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s disease. By integrating multi-omics analysis in human and functional studies, she has contributed to the discovery of diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets of Alzheimer’s disease.

Prof. Ip is the President, The Morningside Professor of Life Science, and the Director of the State Key Laboratory of Molecular Neuroscience at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). She is also the Director of Hong Kong Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (HKCeND). She is well-known for her commitment to transforming research into impactful innovations and nurturing talents.

As a highly accomplished researcher, Prof. Ip has published over 320 scientific papers with more than 44,000 citations (Google Scholar), and holds 70 patents. She has been elected to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the US National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the World Academy of Sciences, and the Hong Kong Academy of Sciences. She currently serves as a Member of the Leadership Group of the Davos Alzheimer’s Collaborative. Furthermore, Prof. Ip is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the National Natural Science Awards, the L’OREAL-UNESCO for Women in Science Award, and the 10 Science Stars of China by Nature.
